If you only knew me, you would know I'm against fake tanning. And I don't just mean fake tanning in salons because that can have a bad impact on your skin. I'm talking about all kinds of fake tanning. I think it's unnecessary, people usually go overboard and white people end up being so unnaturally dark. I'm very comfortable with being very white or whatever color sun actually gives me.
However, I got in this one situation where I reached for a fake tan. To be precise, I bought these L'Oreal tanning tissues. I was at this outdoor event and I burned really bad! But after few days of taking care of it, it actually turned into a dark brown color which was great, but now I have a problem cause I was wearing a top with wide straps and now I have distinct line between light and dark skin.
They give you two white tissues that are soaked with something that's supposed to react with your skin and turn it dark. I used it with gloves cause they warn you to wash your hands immediately after using it. They suggest using one tissue for 2 legs or one tissue for neck, arms and chest. I used one for both of my legs. I went over my legs few times and waited. I didn't see the results after an hour as they claimed there would be. Feeling disappointing, but kinda fine with it, I went to bed.
Not the best lighting, but I wanted to take both before and after photos in the same conditions so meet my bathroom. |
The next morning, I opened my eyes and saw the horror on my legs. Good thing is, these tissues work. They really do. As you can see, my legs are few shades darker which actually matched my upper body. When I first saw it, I loved it. However, if you don't have years of practice, you'll have muddy, stripy legs. As you can see on the photos, I don't have any experience. This maybe doesn't seem that bad, but in person, especially when the sun hit my legs, stripes were very visible. Maybe it wouldn't bother you as much, but I just couldn't live with it. So I decided to take another tissue and go over my not tanned places. Unfortunately, they turned out much darker than the rest of it.

Good thing is there are lots of ways to remove self tanner. I found all ways to remove it on this page www.selftanning.com. Luckily, I had baby wipes that worked well and then I just used my exfoliater and old brush to remove it. I'm happy to say that I didn't remove it completely, but I just evened it out and now I actually love the way it looks. My legs are a lot lighter than they initially were, but I'm really happy with the end result.
Verdict? This product definitely works. There's no doubt about it. However, you won't see immediate results like they say and also you need to be really careful and light-handed. If you can do it, this is a perfect product that didn't stained my clothes or my bed sheets 2 hours after applying it.
Do you use fake tan? Which one and how? It's a season of getting tanned so I'd love to know ♥
These sound interesting but very hard to use, I think most people would have a similar problem you did! Glad you liked the end result :)

Hey :)
DeleteYes, they give a nice (a bit too dark if you ask me) tanned effect, but it's a struggle haha
I just bought some new ones by Garnier and they are waaay lighter (and therefore easier to use)
thanks for coming :*
